The article focuses on the new fictional genre of the novel-commentary, whose parts complement each other; they belong both to reality and to the world of art, where commentary becomes a specific example of translation from the language of reality into the language of creativity. The commentary to his own poem gives Nabokov unlimited possibilities of a dialogue with himself, which proves the author’s great detachment from the world he created where literature enjoys the undivided rule.
Keywords: poem, commentary, novel-commentary, myth-making, spiral, translation.
