Conflict interaction offers a vast field for linguistic studies. The given article runs about conflict in general and its portrayal in English fiction. Conflicts are viewed as open (explicit) and latent (implicit). The latter lacks linguistic research so the further study is definitely of high interest. It is also noted in the article that via the latest findings of Pragmalinguistics and its communicative method the analysis of any implicit conflict should be conducted simultaneously both on verbal and non-verbal levels of speech. Combining both verbal and non-verbal levels of communicative interaction, the article illustrates features specific to an implicit conflict. Among them are the disguise of an emotional state of a speaker, non-authenticity and absence of verbal aggression. The latter also permits us to state that negative emotions are manifested mainly non-verbally. As a part of an analysis of the implicit conflict, conflict triggers (both verbal and non-verbal) are also described in the article. Verbal conflict triggers bear no sign of negative emotions or aggression and serve as such only due to the difference of illocutive aims of speakers. Controlled non-verbal components of communication and specific non-verbal actions can function as a non-verbal conflict trigger.

Keywords: non-verbal communication, communicative conflict, implicit conflict, non-verbal components of communication.
