Thе article attempts to analyze invectives, a less-studied part of the emotive vocabulary in Dagestanian studies. The study of language from linguacultural and communicative-pragmatic perspectives is no less important than the study of its structural organization. Pragmatic and cultural approaches to language research make it possible to identify how speakers of different ethnic cultures perceive the same facts and realities of the physical world. The material for the study was the invective speech formulas of one of the previously unexplored and disappearing subdialects of the Andalal dialect of the Avar language. The object of attention in the presented article is lexemes and phraseological units containing a negative characterization of a person based on their distinctive intellectual and physical qualities and properties. The relevance of the study is due to the steady decrease in the number of speakers of the Shangoda subdialect, which creates threat of loss the dialect’s invective vocabulary. It is this layer of language that most clearly reflects the value systems inherent in ethnic group.
Keywords: Avar language, Shangoda subdialect, invective speech formulas, pragmatic and cultural approaches
