The article is dedicated to modern Balkarian literature and the artistic work of Boris Chipchikov. The authors identify the characteristic features of Chipchikov’s prose, based on the traumatic story of the twentieth century; the evolution of one of the writer’s heroines, whose tragic fate has absorbed the most acute and unfair trials, Mariam from the novel “Fish Spawned in the Moonlight”; based on the writer’s short stories and essays included in the collection “We lived next to the Grail”, an analytical portrait of the narrator Chipchikov was created — with his philosophical (about God, faith, love) and anthropological observations and verdict. Inscribed in historical inhuman somersaults, Chipchikov’s biography did not embitter him, making him a philosopher and lyricist who tells about two loci of his life — Central Asia and the Caucasus. The presented analysis focuses on plot details, which, when rhythmized, create a special compositional narrative pattern (fetus, pregnancy, spawning, zoomorphic images, dress). The writer’s system of philosophical reasoning allowed them to metaphorically call their intention the good news, or the Gospel of Chipchikov.
