The experience of studying the toponymic space of ethnically mixed villages (on the example of the Chuvash-Erzya village of Timyashevo, Samara region)

The article presents the results of a comprehensive study of the toponymic space of the village Timyashevo in the Shentalinsky district of the Samara region, whose population belongs to two main ethnic groups — Chuvash and Erzya-Mordovian. The geographical lexicon and toponymic nomenclature existing among the population of Timyashevo are analyzed, the substrate toponymic strate is revealed. The research is carried out with the involvement of relevant materials from other Mordovian and Chuvash toponymic spaces of the Samara region, adjacent territories of neighboring regions and other territories of settlement of Mordovians and Chuvash people. This material is being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, the main source of materials for the article was the author's field research in the village Timyashevo in the Shentalinsky district of the Samara region in August 2021.
