A. Solzhenitsyn’s story became a landmark for Russian literature in the second half of the 20th century, the text is fundamental for understanding the history and poetics of artistic traditionalism, and it can be regarded as a kind of archetype. Particular interest is aroused by works that are dialogically in the direction of Matrenin Yard on the principle of rapprochement and development of the topic (The Last Term by V. Rasputin, Holyushino Compound by B. Yekimov, Grandma’s Alcohol by M. Tarkovsky), or creating a discussion field, in which the experience of  “non-resistance” Matryona challenged, there is an active hero, able to resist not only incompetent power, but also the course of history. There are the best examples in this respect: the late texts of F. Abramov (novel The House), L. Petrushevskaya (The New Robinsons), V. Rasputin: from the stories Hut, In the same land... to the final story The Daughter of Ivan, the mother of Ivan, where the image of a women-bogatyrka, who stands up for the protection of her child and land in times of tragic confusion, weakness of men, the state as a whole in unfolded.

Keywords: Solzhenitsyn, “Matrenin Yard” (“Matryona’s House”), contemporary Russian prose, archetype.
