Historical projections between Russian and French cultures in the novel «The Ninth Thermidor» by M. Aldanov as a thematic camertone in the tetralogy «The Thinker»

The article considers the permanent dialogue between Russian and French cultures in Mark Aldanov’s tetralogy The Thinker (including The Ninth Thermidor, The Devil's Bridge, The Conspiracy, and St. Helena: a Little Island). The author comes to a conclusion that comparison and interpretation of historical parallels introduced in the novel The Ninth Thermidor functions as a turning-fork for their further development in the subsequent works of the cycle.
