The theme of death in Leo Tolstoy's novel “Anna Karenina” and its reflection in Javad Fazel's novella “Love and tear”

This present article examines the issue of death in “Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy and “Love and Tear” by Javad Fazel. The subject of death is one of the usual subjects of literary works and has attracted the attention of many writers and poets of the world, including Iran and Russia. The authors look at this issue from different angles. But since Javad Fazel wrote “Love and Tear” inspired by Tolstoy, the present article examines his views on the theme of death in “Love and Tear” compared to “Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy. Also, to examine Leo Tolstoy’s view on the philosophy of death, taking into account that his view is fully reflected in Anna Karenina, and what the great Russian writer considered the requirements of a better life for human and how is the subject of death considered. Considering Javad Fazel’s influence on Leo Tolstoy, this question is raised, are there any differences and similarities in the views of the two writers on the topic of death? By comparing the two works, we come to the conclusion that both authors have dealt with this matter from their religious points of view and there are similarities between their views.
