This article presents an experimental study of a stylometric tool for analyzing poetic texts. Specifically, it explores the potential of stylometry to refine the periodization of O.E. Mandelstam’s creativity based on accurate automatic calculations. The collections “Stone” and “Tristia” were selected for analysis, and a number of lexical density coefficients were calculated to compare quantitative indicators. The results of the stylometric analysis indicate that the collections “Tristia” and “Stone” belong to different stages of the evolution of the poet’s creativity. This demonstrates the usefulness of stylometric tools in providing a more nuanced understanding of an author’s work, as well as identifying the amount and concentration of vocabulary in texts. The use of detailed lexical and statistical analysis through stylometry has great potential for studying the modern Russian literary language, including the changing language norms. By identifying and tracking changes in language use over time, stylometry provides a valuable lens through which to understand and analyze literary texts.
