The article is devoted to the analysis of the emotional picture of the world of an Armenian migrant — an indispensable component of the individual’s overall world picture — in the receiving country. The research is conducted in the light of a new direction — at the junction of emotiology and linguomigratiology, two “young” interdisciplinary fields of the linguistic scientific thought — called emotive linguomigrationology. At the present stage of the development of these interdisciplinary studies conducted in the light of the anthropocentric scientific paradigm, there is a feeling person — homo sentiens — with all his/her experiences, sensations, feelings, and, of course, emotions. It is presumed that the processes that occur during communication do not differ significantly from the processes that take part in the functioning of language in general. And, as a rule, language contact is considered as a process of transmission and exchange of information, and in the definition of communication, along with the component of the exchange of thoughts, such components as relationships, mutual influences and interactions of people, their emotive / emotional empathy, the processes of achieving mutual understanding were identified. The empirical basis of this work was the results of an anonymous sociological survey conducted by the authors with the Armenians living in the Russian Federation. An anonymous survey among the representatives of the Armenian Diaspora in Russia was conducted during 2020–2021. The main purpose of the survey was to identify some ways of identifying the emotion of surprise in the migrant-oriented discourse. According to the results of an anonymous sociological survey, it is revealed that among the participants of the survey — the representatives of the Armenian diaspora in Russia — the emotion of surprise in the vast majority of cases is manifested by an indirect speech act, with the help of interjections ay, oh, ah, wow, etc.
