This article analyzes the phenomenon of the interaction between literature and music. The research focuses on the interpretation of the literary character Asiyat in Rasul Gamzatov’s poem and Murad Kazhlaev’s ballet. It demonstrates how the composer, inspired by the poetic plot, conceptualized the dramatic development of Asiyat’s character in musical and theatrical expression. The creative partnership between M. Kazhlaev and R. Gamzatov contributed to the creation of works across various genres, from vocal miniatures to large-scale instrumental forms. The collaboration between poet and composer in the creation of the ballet was aimed at creating an emotionally vibrant and spectacularly expressive performance. The first national ballet, created by M. Kazhlaev, gave a particularly vibrant resonance to the poetic source material. The ballet performance not only enhanced the poem’s emotional resonance but, through the emphasis placed in the libretto and the potential of the synthetic stage genre, imbued national themes and images with a universal resonance. It demonstrates how the stylistics of musical language, choreography, and set design create figurative and emotional lines of the drama. Musical expressiveness and orchestral timbres convey the main idea and the central dramatic conflict. The development of the plot is vividly outlined by choreographic numbers imbued with folkloric characteristics in the interpretation of classical dance. The development of the symphonic canvas and the symphonization of the main character’s image are emotionally reinterpreted and have a through-line of development in the form of a leitmotif, which, along with the presentation of other images, contributes to the development of the plot and psychological lines.
