One of the varieties of rock poetry is the author’s folk song (minstrel song), which is characterized by fantasy imagery and plot. In this regard, the creativity of modern fantasy bards tends to rock-poetic modeling of mythological elements. A special place in the author’s folk song is occupied by the myth of the “black minstrel”, which was repeatedly addressed by representatives of this rock poetic trend and which became the basis of the subgenre of the same name. The subject of the study is the specifics of the reproduction of the neo-myth of the “black minstrel” in the works of modern minstrels: Den Nazgul, Tam Greenhill, Elhe Niannah (Niennah), Skald. The purpose of the work is to explore the specifics of the reproduction of the neo-myth of the “black minstrel” in the context of the mythopoeic nature of the author’s folk song. Comparative historical and typological methods are used in the work. The article examines the archaic basis of the “minstrel” neomyph, which is the myth of Orpheus. The author examines the image of the “black minstrel” as an archetypal projection of the image of Orpheus, the tempter, and the Messiah. The author emphasizes the penetration of myth in the context of the spatial and temporal organization of songs, in which the minstrel is a myth element of Tolkien’s represented mythical world. The individual authorial features of the “black minstrel”, which are a permanent attribute of the neo-myth, are investigated. It is concluded that these markers are a catalyst for the interaction of the “black minstrel” with the outside world, which causes the fatality of his path, thereby being an element of the individual author’s mythical plot.
