This review analyzes the monograph by N.M. Malygina, a renowned scholar of A.P. Platonov’s work, titled “Andrei Platonov: Dialogues with Predecessors and Contemporaries” (St. Petersburg: Nestor-Istoriia, 2025. 400 p.), which was the result of many years of studying the literary heritage and biography of the writer. Particular attention is paid to the dialogues, that is, the historical and genetic literary connections between the works of Platonov, on the one hand, and F.M. Dostoevsky, on the other, as well as contact, genetic and comparative typological similarities between the works of Platonov and many writers of the last century. Among them are V. Bryusov and representatives of the Russian avant-garde Velimir Khlebnikov, V. Maiakovsky, as well as Proletkult figures and new peasant poets (S. Yesenin), O. Mandelstam, B. Pasternak and V. Shalamov. Among the important literary criticism problems is the question of the creative method of the author of “Chevengur” and “The Foundation Pit”, the place of literary criticism and journalism of Platonov in the context of discussions of representatives of different literary groups of the 1920s, primarily “The Forge” and “The Pass”, the history of Platonov's relationship with A.K. Voronsky, as well as the similarity of the aesthetic principles of the “new prose” of Platonov and V. Shalamov.
Keywords: Platonov, dialogue, Russian classics, avant-garde, Voronsky, Yesenin, Shalamov, “A Story about Many Interesting Things”, “Chevengur”, “The Foundation Pit”
