The article is devoted to the prospects of digital scientific publications and the problems of digital commentary of I.A. Bunin’s poems. The advantages and disadvantages of digital commentary are given in accordance with the technical capabilities of the digital platform created on the basis of the Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences at the time of writing. The key advantages of digital formats include the ability to quickly update comments, present various versions of the text, and integrate multimedia materials (audio recordings, illustrations, and manuscripts). Special attention is paid to textual aspects: using the example of Bunin’s poems (“Buffoons”, “On the Pond”, “Don’t scare me with a thunderstorm...”, “What a warm and dark dawn!..”), it is shown how digital platforms can overcome the limitations of print media. Methodological difficulties such as choosing the commentary format, organizing hypertext links, and visualizing the historical and cultural context are also discussed. It is noted that digital publications require an interdisciplinary approach combining philological accuracy with technological solutions, and the risks are highlighted: the technical obsolescence of platforms and the need to ensure the durability of digital resources. In conclusion, it is concluded that well-implemented digital commentaries can become a powerful tool for researchers, offering new ways of interpreting classical texts.
