The personality of the writer Pavel Nikolaevich Dorokhov (1886–1938) was excluded from the literary process of the twentieth century as a result of the “Great Terror”. The author of this article has restored a number of facts of Dorokhov’s biography and work from archival materials (Russian State Archive of Literature and Art; The State Archive of the Russian Federation). In particular, the study highlights fragments of his Samara activities (according to the letters of A.N. Neverov); introduces Dorokhov’s drama “The Black Dragon” into scientific discourse and defines its semi — mystical role in the writer’s fate; presents fragments of Dorokhov’s interrogation in 1938 and the motives of the accusation — complicity in the Harbin terrorist organization; establishes the exact date of death, which until now, it has been recorded in a few essays about Dorokhov as incorrect; for the first time it gives a scientific analysis of the collection of Dorokhov’s novels and short stories “The History of the city of Tarabarsk”.
Keywords: the investigative case of Pavel Dorokhov, “The Black Dragon”, “The history of the city of Tarabarsk”, Tashkent, A.S. Neverov
