The article examines some thematic and stylistic parallels with the work of Konstantin Nikolaevich Leontiev. One of them is shown on the material of Ivan Kireevsky's novel “The Island” and the facts of his biography. The novel unfolds the romantic utopia of the Christian ‘golden age’ on one of the islands of the Greek Archipelago. Leontiev's concept of the Greco-Slavic “island” of “Byzantine culture” in the midst of a deteriorating civilization correlates with this. A later parallel is presented on the material of Leontiev’s novel “Podlipki”, his novella “Confession of a Husband” and the works of Ivan Bunin “Sukhodol”, “Easy Breathing”, “Antonov Apples” and others. The author reveals the closeness of the two writers in developing the theme of the decline of Russian noble culture.
