The article discusses the issues of effective approaches to the translation of texts of Russian classical literature into modern Azerbaijani, the development of the Azerbaijani school of translation in the new century. The object of scientific research is the principles and problems of modern literary translation in Azerbaijan. The author pays attention to the analysis of the spiritual and aesthetic functions of the literary text in translation. The research was conducted using such methods as analytical and cultural, historical and comparative. The rich arsenal of literary translation in Azerbaijani culture is assessed from the perspective of Russian-Azerbaijani literary and linguistic cultural interrelations. The mutual influence and relevance of mutual translations of Russian fiction into Azerbaijani are substantiated. The conclusion is that in order to achieve a high-quality and adequate Azerbaijani translation of Russian literature, all linguistic aspects of translation should be taken into account. The creation of a translation text is possible under the condition of dialectical interaction of logical-syntactic and formal-grammatical structure reflecting national and cultural factors.
