The article is devoted to the centennial anniversary of the Institute of Language, Literature and Art of the Dagestan Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which is celebrated by the DFRC in 2024. The main purpose of the study is to trace the ways of development of humanitarian (philological) science of Dagestan, the largest academic institution in the North Caucasus, established in 1924; to note the main achievements, to determine the goals and objectives, the state and prospects of development. The core fundamental studies show the way passed by the Institute over the century-long period: the history of its establishment, expansion of its structure, development of fundamental themes and actual tasks of modern philological science; expositions of personalities are presented; localization of modern scientific problems and tasks, their realization in academic works. Linguistics and literary studies, art and folklore, manuscript collection and source base, personalities of scientists, fundamental academic works — these are the reference correlations of the academic Institute of Language, Literature and Art and priority directions of philological science of multicultural Dagestan. Established strong roots — research traditions, scientific approaches, developments, practical experience — gives a vector of orientation for the development of large-scale topics and the development of the Institute in the future.
