The article presents the results of the study of the language behaviour of the heads of regional executive power: A.Yu. Vorobyev — Governor of the Moscow region, D.N. Makhonin — Governor of the Perm region, A.L. Teksler — Governor of the Chelyabinsk region. Five communicative roles representing the governors’ speech behaviour are described: a conscientious performer, an effective leader, a professional agitator, a people’s advocate, an exemplary family man. It is shown that the implementation of a particular communicative role is influenced by such discursive factors as the legally established functions of the governor, the target attitude of the subject of the speech, the information occasion, the target audience and the technical possibilities of the messenger telegram. The novelty of the study lies in clarifying ideas about the speech behaviour of top regional officials, as well as in identifying previously unexplored discursive factors of government-society dialogue.
