The authors of the article consider Shukshin’s small prose as a supertext, the integrity of which is due not to genre or compositional specifics, not to the image of the author, not to the principles of detailing a single plot or the structure of characters corresponding to the literary technologies demanded by the epoch, but to the radiation of unique vital energy, the presence of which Shukshin the reader perfectly caught when reading classics. From the point of view of the authors of the article, it is the decoding of the “energy of essence” (A.F. Losev) of the Shukshin word that makes it possible to explain Shukshin’s current breakthrough to the mass reader. The main content of the article is the study of the process of actualization of the epithet clear, revealing the infinite potential of artistic regeneration of vital, axiological in essence meanings in Shukshin’s stories. At the culminating stage of creative evolution, this epithet becomes the main, most frequent, nuclear marker of a huge lexico-semantic field, broadcasting Shukshin’s sense of nature, the tragedy of modern social life, the position of man on the breakdown of civilizational processes. Russian literature Key conclusion: only now it becomes clear that Shukshin, the prose writer, reanimated the super-task of Russian literature in the Pushkin-Dostoevsky version, which presupposes the restoration of the “ethical-energetic nature” of the Russian word (B. Evseev), which can allow overcoming the threat of absolute victory of the demagogue, which is terrible for Russian civilization.

Keywords: Shukshin, return, small prose, energy, clear, tradition, demagogue
