The definition of “network library” is given. The classification of network libraries by textual parameters is proposed. The article shows the difference between the principles of selecting sources and the policy of scientific, scientific-mass and mass online collections of documents. The problem of choosing a network resource as an actual problem of the quality of philological research is discussed. Legal aspects of creating and using network funds are presented. Conclusions are drawn about the need to regulate the interaction of consumers and online libraries: ethical, legal, and self-regulation by the efforts of the philological community.
