The given article analyzes the linguistic and linguocultural features of the Avar gender paroemiological units with the concept “poverty”. The significance of the problem is that the Avar paroemiological units with the concept “poverty” have not been studied before. Besides, proverbs and sayings oriented on a human, are an interesting case not only for linguistics, but for the research of the Avar language worldview and emotional associations of these paroemiological units.
Thus, it is analysed the linguistic (lexico-semantic, morphological, lexico-syntactical) features of the characterized proverbs and their linguocultural characteristics connected with different culture codes. The majority of the characterized paroemiological units with the concept “poverty” expresses the negative connotations of national and cultural character.
The article describes different cases of metaphors, cultural codes, national and cultural components of paroemiological units characterizing poor and lazy man. The role of language symbols is determined, which are the cultural signs of the language, and also evaluative connotations showing the particular features of mindset of the Avar language speakers.
