The article deals with the phenomenon of the classical period of Russian literature — with Russian novel that fixed the general and essential tendency for native novelists of the XIX century: to recreate the picture of “the rehabilitation of deceased man” (F.M. Dostoevsky), to portray the “old” man as a holistic person (I.A. Goncharov). Russian classic novel actively developed that variant of “the plot of salvation”, which allows modern man to overcome the tragic discord with the world and restore vital ties with society, nature and the universe.
Keywords: Russian classic novel, typology, plot of salvation, “Divine Comedy”, “Faust”.
