The article is an overview of the demonological characters of Dagestan folklore. Their common features and specific features are investigated, which may be of a local nature depending on the regional features of plot formation. Characters are classified by habitat (domestic, natural), time of appearance (related to childbirth), and origin (cemetery). The scientific novelty of the study is to identify the features of the behavior and appearance of demonological characters, as well as to establish similarities and cross-interaction of motifs in the mythological beliefs of Dagestan ethnic groups. The folklore traditions of the Avars, Dargins, Kumyks, Laks, Lezgins, Nogais, Tabasarans and other peoples of Dagestan served as the material for the study.
