In the context of contemporary studies of intercultural interaction, the issue of cultural exchange and transformation is particularly significant. One significant aspect of the influence of Russian folklore on Lezghin oral poetry is the adoption of various motifs and plots, which is evidence of the exchange of cultural values between the peoples. This contributed to the integration of storylines and images. It has been demonstrated that interaction between the two peoples also contributed to the development of new genre forms. The purpose of our study is to examine the specifics of wedding laments as a genre of ritual poetry. Thе analysis assumes a comprehensive approach, taking into account both the historical and cultural aspects of interaction. Researching this issue allows for a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of cultural exchange and an appreciation of the significance of each culture’s contribution to a shared cultural heritage.
