The article is dedicated to the centenary of Academician G.G. Gamzatov, Advisor to the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philology, Professor, and Director of the Gamzat Tsadasa Institute of Language, Literature, and Art of the Dagestan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The author of the article traces G.G. Gamzatov’s path to the heights of academic science, presenting his translation and editorial activities, as well as his scientific works on the history of Dagestani literature, its typology, the theory and practice of literature, the place and role of folklore in the genesis of literature, the influence of Arab-Muslim and Eastern culture on Dagestani civilization, the role of Russian culture and literature in the spiritual evolution of the peoples of Dagestan, and more. It is noted that these topics have taken a leading place in the scholar’s works, research, and publications. In his scientific research and creative pursuits, Academician G.G. Gamzatov has argued that the spiritual culture of the peoples of Dagestan has a thousand-year history. Although the cultures, literatures, and languages of other nations and civilizations have had a significant impact on her, she was formed and developed on her native soil, in the land of Dagestan.
