The article examines the literary process in China during the 1930s and 1960s from the perspective of the influence of Soviet children’s literature. With the emergence of the May Fourth Movement, foreign literature began to gain prominence in China, and a particular interest in Russian literature quickly emerged. The field of Soviet children’s literature became prominent, largely due to the educational and translation efforts of Lu Xun and Mao Dun. A review and study of Chinese sources has shown that children’s works by Soviet authors have quickly become dominant among foreign works created for the younger generation. This is primarily due to the fact that Soviet children’s literature resonated with China’s ideological framework for shaping children’s class consciousness. However, aesthetic factors, the high artistic level of Soviet children’s literature, the variety of its plots, characters, and techniques, as well as the portrayal of a new type of child who actively models their life stance from a realistic perspective, became equally important.
