This article analyzes the personal and creative relationships between the two outstanding contemporary philological scientists V.E. Khalizev and B.F. Egorov — based on correspondence and inscripts on books and articles given to a colleague, as well as unknown diary entries and 3 memoir essays, one of which (“About my dear Valentin Evgenievich”, 2005) is introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The evolution of their communication is traced — from a formal acquaintance to a friendly rapprochement, which took place as an organic process caused by a mutual spiritual need. It is shown that informing each other about creative achievements, the successes of followings and the range of reading had a stimulating effect on the scientific plans of the correspondents. It turns out that their intellectual demands and ethical principles were essentially similar, and both scientists had a primary interest in reflecting nationally oriented Russian thought in literature. It is noted that the scientists were also brought together by their passion for “philological memoirs” — the creation of recollections about colleagues, specialists in literary studies. The moment of mutual influence between Egorov and Khalizev in their works on creative understanding of the history of their family is also accentuated. The study of the published epistolary and biographical materials showed that they contain productive ideas that can serve as a kind of catalyst for the research process. In conclusion, the prospects for further development of the creative heritage of scientists are outlined, primarily the preparation of a complete set of their correspondence for publication.
