The article is dedicated to one of Old Believers’ polemical prints of the 19th century «Sbornik sochinenij o brakah raznyh revnostnyh muzhej» (“A collection of works about the sacrament of marriage written by various good men”), printed in Johannisburg (Pisz) in East Prussia. The author of the article analyses the sources the quotations from which were used in the texts published in the collection, in order to support the arguments for the need to enter into marriage, since these arguments constitute a strong evidence in a so-called polemic concerning marriages among the Old Believers — Bespopovtsy.

Keywords: the history of Old Believers in Poland, a polemic concerning marriages, awedding ceremony without the participation of clergy, Drukarnia Słowiańska (Slavic Printing House) in Pisz, Paul of Prussia.
