Sense of humour and anecdotes appearance looked upon as wit verbalisation in European lingvomentality is justified in the article by semiotic and sociolinguistic factors.The analysis of ethnic and social nature of anecdotes the main forms of domestic or everyday routine life folklore is given.Russian and Jewing common features of anecdotal treatment of the most prioritised life concepts are presented.
