“Gender revolution” in life and creativity of D.S. Merezhkovsky and Z.N. Gippius (Article one)

The article contains the study of the initial stage of social-religious experiment of D.S. Meregkovsky and Z.N. Gippius aimed at modification of spiritual-bodily nature of a human being. Analyzing the materials of religious-publicistic and critical character as well as the memoirs produced by them, the author shows that the concept of “new Christian love” originated in Merezkovsky’s ideas of “sacred flesh” (contrary to the intentions of theorists of “modified gender”) turned out a religious-erotic project in which religion was saturated with erotic and erotic with religion.
