The paper considers the stylistic domains of sociolects characteristic of two virtual communities — the engineering and the business one. The samples of professional communication on engineering and business forums provided in the paper show that the discourse of virtual professional communities is set by the colloquial vector and built after the speech patterns and oral speech genres similar to the ones of the actual language reality. The conclusion states the formation of proper linguistic phenomena referred to as professional sociolects on the basis of metalanguages in virtual environment.
