The scientific essay examines one of the family rituals. The goal of the work is to recreate the traditional wedding custom of the mid-20th century and its components through folk dialect according to the memories of residents of the village of Vorontsovka, Pavlovsk district, Voronezh region. During the preparation of the article, the following methods were used: survey, interviewing, stationary observation, description and generalization. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that it depicts an interesting celebration dedicated to marriage, recorded in the southeast of the capital of the Black Earth Region: the time and place of the celebration, its participants, the attire of the bride and groom, food and drinks, instrumental and musical accompaniment, etc. The result of the research was the representation of an original village ritual, including nine interconnected stages, which is part of family culture. It is shown that the wedding vocabulary used is represented by nominations of the South Russian dialect and nominations of the literary language. It demonstrates the real foundations that existed in the last century and reflects the times. It is concluded that a Vorontsov wedding is a structurally simple, but orderly organized ceremony in the form of a theatrical performance in the local style. The work notes that the diverse facets of the ritual carry deep meaning and have symbolic significance, and calendar rituals are an element of the unique heritage of the indigenous population of the village, reflected in the dialect. It is emphasized that the previous tradition has changed in the new century, filled with other components. The practical significance of this study lies in the fact that it adds new materials to the databases on ethnolinguistics existing in Voronezh universities and can be used in the special course “Voronezh regional linguistics”. The material is being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
