In all genres of folklore of the peoples of Dagestan, the richest spiritual heritage is concentrated, developed during a long historical period of development of society. They reflect the eternal ideas of good and evil, honor and dishonor, justice and truth. Having originated in ancient times, the genres of folklore have served the people for many centuries as a textbook of life, passing on from generation to generation their practical and life experience, worldly wisdom, and developed the best human qualities — courage, fortitude, courage, patriotism, honesty and kindness. Having the richest material of folklore works on all the peoples of Dagestan, characterized by great ideological, aesthetic and artistic value, genre richness and national specifics, features of the poetic figurative system, large-scale work on the multi-volume project “Collection of folklore monuments of the peoples of Dagestan” in 20 volumes, 11 of which have already been initiated in the Department of Folklore and Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences published.
