The article considers the semantics and structure of plot about the exhausted horse at the cycle “About weather” (“Before dusk”, 1859) by Nekrasov and the novel «Crime and Punishment» (1866) by Dostoyevsky. On basis of comparison with the recognized source — the poem “The Melancholy” (collection “Contemplations”, 1856) by V. Hugo — traced to methods of variation of images and plot decisions, that allow to consider originality of artistic problems at every stated works. The basic part is devoted to plot about the exhausted horse in first Raskolnikov’s dream. The dreamy specific of organization of plot is of interest: simultaneously structural imposition of basic elements-markers of plot — humiliation over sacrifice, ridicule, unbearable of load, beating, killing — in different semantic и style views: social (realistic), carnival (absurd), evangelic (symbolic). Conclusions of investigation: the article considers poem by Hugo as initial material, important for working out structural part of plot about the exhausted horse. Nekrasov’s plot, which on the face of it used minimally in structural plan, is more significant in semantic plan. In the plot Dostoyevsky keeps of emotional perception of what is going on at present simultaneously and in plan of disgraceful street stage and in plan of plot of Golgotha. It is semantic important both what is going on at present usually — cruelty and injustice in human world (it strengthens dramatic of despair of what is going on at present) and what is going on at present “at eternity” — prototype of way of Golgotha, suffering and atonement (vector of personal choice of way of rescue for hero).
